About

At Samphire Collection we provide a personalised, high-quality experience that embodies warmth, comfort and indulgence. We believe that sustainability and luxury can coexist, and we seek to create a unique and memorable experience for each of our guests.

Meet Lou and James

Lou and James share a love of Albany and the Great Southern of Western Australia. After moving to the region some 20 years ago, neither of us really intended to stay so long but the connection to place was strong and a passion and commitment to our home town, its community, producers and creatives came easily.

Beginning Samphire Collection in 2021, we felt strongly that we had an opportunity to contribute to our local community and create meaningful experiences for our guests. We take our privilege as hosts seriously and are committed to quality, creativity, sustainability, accessibility and social responsibility.

We aspire to be the ultimate destination for conscious travellers seeking a bespoke, indulgent, and immersive accommodation experience that celebrates the rich culture, history, and natural beauty of Albany, Western Australia. We aim to set a new standard for hospitality by creating meaningful connections between our guests and the local community, from the food and wine producers to the artists and creators who make this region so special.

Our goal is to contribute to a community who shares our values and appreciation for the region and to create a sense of wonder and delight that leaves a lasting impression on our guests.

Kinjarling

Kinjarling (Albany), which translates to place of rain, within Wagyl Kaip—the southern region of Noongar boodja, is on the south coast of Western Australia, and is known for its rugged landscapes, stunning beaches, and biodiversity.

This is Menang Noongar country and has been since time immemorial and we acknowledge all First Nations peoples in Australia as the custodians of the world’s oldest living culture. We are proud to be a part of this country and respect our Aboriginal elders and leaders of the past and present. We look forward to a future Australia walking together.

Kardarup (Mt Melville) has been a traditional meeting site for Menang people for generations. We invite you to gather and connect with your nearest and dearest with that in mind.
